experimentation...
Experimenting with corn and potato dextrin as resists, which create some very interesting crackle effects. Also, I have been working on a technique that removes the gum from areas of silk organza. Both these areas of experimentation were inspired by Ann Johnston, whose studio I had the priviledge of visiting (with very dear friends, Ann Marra and Tim Ely) earlier this spring, 2007. I will post pictures of my results in these areas soon...
So many ideas, so little time!!
I intend to expand on my skills and abilities in bead crochet, incorporating beads with wool for felting... that could be very cool! I am also looking forward to doing a series of wall hangings, making use of my fabrics and fibers and beads and metal and paper (oh my!).
I will post images here...
Moved to tears...
I just recently read a quote from Laura Kemshall in the December/January 2008 issue of Quilting Arts Magazine, that nearly brought tears to my eyes. Her article is fabulousas alwaysand she ends it with:
As textile artists we are such lucky people. We find pleasure in simple things; the color of hand-dyed fabrics, a spool of lustrous threadwe almost hyperventilate when we go through the door of a bead store! How fortunate we are to have passion to create and to achieve such satisfaction in what we do.
How perfect! She so completely captures the joy and wonder of the creative process!
UPDATE:
Recently, my husband gave me a fabulous gift, Linda and Laura's book The Painted Quilt. It really is packed full of great inspiration, like taking a mini vacation to flip through the pages. Thank you sweety!!
Well, time to get back to the stuff that gives me joy may you find joy in your current project!
